Every day life in Huang Jue Ping-Artists District

A typical smog filled day and grey skies

Today, I went for meetings in the artistic district and the factory smoke was in action, forming interesting shapes, a photo opporunity I could not miss. I met up with Roman David and he helped me find a good Chinese massage in the area. Afterwards he took me to great place to eat local home made dumplings, so fresh and tasty, not like the frozen food we get at home. Food is sold in markets so fresh, you can see in the picture below a typical market scene.

Another day I met Simeng, who is a student at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, we met last September when she took me round and helped me with translation. She is so kind and speaks english well. She is waiting to get confirmation for her student exchange project in UK, I sincerely wish her luck, she deserves it.

Today its 4 March and I am down with a cold and cough and the weather has gone very cold. Some days I miss the fresh air from UK and sunny days. We don't get much sun these days as the city is immersed in fog and smog. Being a mountain city the mist hangs and stays with us most of the winter and the weather is changeable.

Its tough for the people out here they have to live with the smog, its time the government addressed environmental issues more in China.
I am aware that there are many paper factories near, these factories blowing smoke, they provide my understanding is that they provide electricity and gas for the population.
Its how UK was in the past, specially London in the days of smog and coal. These streets and buidlings are very old and the market is open all day and night. Artist Roman David, knows all the good eating places to hang out
he has lived in the area a long time. He hopes to attract more people to
view his work. Please check out the blogsite below, some of his pictures
are posted on site. His work is political and has images of mao.
